Welcome to ECC fitness center!

PART I. Introduction

There are lots of facilities in Ewha Campus Complex. Among these facilities there is one place which can help Ewha Womans University students improve their health. It’s the ECC fitness center! In here, there are many programs you can do, so it will be very practical for you.

PART II. Various Facilities

There are lots of facilities to help your body health according to the many exercise programs. First, there is measurement room. In here, you can measure your body fat and development of muscle skeletal. Also you can get individual counseling about what exercise is the most suitable for you. And, there are training zones. These are divided into an aerobic training zone and a machine-weight training zone. In these zones, you can exercise with many athletic equipment and these will help you to improve your basal physical fitness and consume your calories. Next, there are GX rooms. GX means group exercise. In these rooms, you can do functional exercise such as stretching, gym ball, zumba with health trainer. Finally, you can learn sports climbing. Also there are two classes-basic  class, intermediate class- so you can select the class according your level.


PART III. Diverse Group Exercise Program

BOSU EXERCISE


Bosu uses half a gym ball for exercising. It reduces shock from exercising and provides reflect training against shaking of center, and improves balance.

TOTAL BODY EXERCISE

This exercise is very effective not only for aerobic exercise but also for muscular strength. This makes the heart stronger. It is done on the step box.

BODY SHAPING EXERCISE


This class changes difficult and boring muscular exercise into easy and interesting exercise by using light dumbbells and bar bells. You can improve your body line and give yourself more energy.

YOGA – LATES


This program mixes the advantages of both yoga and pilates. It can improve your breathing ability, flexibility, balance, and muscular endurance.

MIND-BODY YOGA


This class makes your body and mind relaxed.

CARDIO-PILATES


We can get an aerobic effect by doing particular pilates motions again and again with music.

CROSS TRAINING


This program makes you improve your strength, which is needed in ordinary life, by carrying out aerobic, weight, and stretching exercises.

SLING EXERCISE


This is a special program. It can improve your nervous systems and balance by varying the exercise by changing the length of the sling and the location of the center axis.

PART IV. ECC Fitness center fees

ECC Fitness center offers various programs with reasonable price. In particular, Ewha students and staffs qualify for reduced fees. Moreover, ECC fitness center gives you an additional discount up to 30% if you enroll health program and Group Exercise class at the same time. Nearly all gyms located off-campus offer membership packages for 3,6, or 12 months, which often require singing a contract. And 1month fee is high. But ECC fitness center offers monthly dues.

The following tables show the list of facilities and activities that are included with Ewha students, alumni, staffs and additional prices where they occur for non-students.

Usually Personal Training at off-campus fitness center is very expensive. However there is great discount for Ewha students and staffs at ECC fitness center. Many of fitness members have already discovered the benefits of working with a personal trainer. From designing a customized workout to providing ongoing motivation and support, personal trainers are dedicated to helping you achieve your specific fitness goals. Every member receives a complimentary one hour fitness assessment with our training staff.

PART V. Interviewing

We met one person in this center

Q: Please introduce yourself.
A: I’m the director of this center. I administrate all of the facilities and members and help teachers to teach members. I have worked here since 2008 when the Ewha Campus Complex was built.

Q: How many members are here?
A: In March, July and September, there were about 1000 members because these periods are peak.
And generally there are 700 members in our center.

Q: How can we register with this center?
A: You have to register every month because our programs are monthly program. If you go to My Eureka of the Ewha Womans University homepage, you can find the tap for social exercising. Click it, and select what you want to do.

Q: Are all of the members Ewha Womans University students or also other people?
A: Our center is opened just for Ewha Womans University students and professors. Family members can also use our center.

Q: Could you tell me what is the best feature of this center?
A: I think the best thing is that we help members to do various exercises for balancing their bodies. There are not only training machines such as running machines, but also many rooms for yoga, ballet and dancing. Also, the teachers are good. Most of the teachers are the Ewha Womans University graduate students and the male teacher is a Yonsei University graduate student.

  There are many students who want to lose their weight. And I think you do too. How about registering for an exercise program in the ECC fitness Center? A few months later, you will be able to see a difference to your body, and you’ll be more healthy and thin!
